3d areola tattoo
A 3D Areola Tattoo is a specialized paramedical tattooing technique used to restore the natural look of the areola, typically for those who have undergone breast reconstruction surgeries, or post-mastectomy. This treatment is also used to correct asymmetry or loss of color/pigmentation in the areola.
Using a tattoo machine and specific needle configurations along with special techniques to highlight and shade we’re able to create a hyper realistic effect on the areola that will restore its natural beauty.
This treatment is for anyone who may have had a mastectomy due to breast cancer, breast reconstruction, total loss of the nipple/areola complex, gender-affirmation top surgery, breast reduction, or anyone who was left with irregularities post-reconstructive surgery.
3D Areola Tattooing is an incredibly fulfilling procedure that is used to help women (and men) regain their confidence and restore a sense of normalcy back into their life after undergoing surgery or trauma such as breast cancer. It is a deeply personal and transformative procedure that is a beautiful mixture of art and emotional healing.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR AN AREOLA TATTOO?
Post-Mastectomy
Post-mastectomy reconstruction for breast cancer survivors — after breast cancer, individuals may have lost their areola/nipple or are left with scarring from the surgeries. Areola tattoos are a non-surgical option to restore and rebuild the appearance of a natural breast.
Breast reduction
Breast reduction or correction of asymmetry — patients who have undergone breast reduction surgery typically have loss of pigmentation in their areolas. Using our hyperrealism techniques and a specific blend of custom colors we are able to improve and enhance the appearance of the areola to give a more balanced and aesthetic appearance.
gender-affirming
Gender-affirmation surgeries for transgender people — for many, areola tattooing is a powerful step in affirming their gender and reclaiming their body. Having the option to customize areolas helps clients to feel more comfortable and authentic in their appearance.
3D AEREOLA FAQ
Q: How is the 3D tattoo achieved?
A:The 3D affect is created using an advanced shading and color techniques to mimic natural areola texture and depth, and the optical illusion of protrusion of the nipple.
Q: How long after surgery can I get the tattoo?
A: Post surgery you should wait a minimum of 6 months to receive areola tattooing to ensure any scarring is fully healed and stable. Always receive doctor approval before tattooing
Q: Do I need a consultation before the procedure?
A: Yes, consultations are essential to discuss overall goals with your areola tattoo as well as to assess your skins readiness for the procedure.
Q:Is the procedure painful?
A: In most cases patients have experienced minimal discomfort. We always apply a numbing agent to ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible
Q: How long does the procedure take?
A: The procedure typically takes 2-2.5 hours depending on the complexity and whether we’re working on a unilateral or bilateral procedure. The longest part of the procedure is mapping out the shape of the Areola and selected the correct colors to use
Q: How long do the results last?
A: Results typically last up to 5 years before a color refresh may be needed. The longevity depends on factors such as skin type, sun exposure, and adherence to aftercare.
Q: What is the healing process like?
A: Healing time on average takes about 1-2 weeks. We will provide you with an aftercare kit and thorough instructions to take care of your new tattoos.
Q: Will the color fade?
A: Yes, some initial fading is normal as the skin heals. A complimentary touch up appointment is scheduled 6-8 weeks after your initial tattoo appointment to perfect any areas of the tattoo that may have faded a bit faster. Over the span of 4-5 years as your areola tattoo fades it will lose a bit of its vibrancy. At that point you may choose to come back in for a color boost!
Q: Is the procedure safe?
A: Yes! When performed by a trained professional! At Ink Aesthetx we use the highest quality pigments and equipment to ensure a sterile, safe environment that continually delivers the best results.
Q: What pigments do you use? Are they safe for sensitive skin?
A: We use the highest-grade traditional tattoo inks, hypoallergenic, containing zero animal products and never tested on animals. Safe on the skin and maintain extreme vibrancy
Q: Will my insurance cover this procedure?
A: Yes, The Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA) requires most group health insurers to cover areola tattooing after mastectomy or lumpectomy. Insurance does not cover decorative breast tattooing or cosmetic/elective tattooing of the nipples.
